So... Cloverfield... hmmm, let me whet your whistle.
First there is the fictional company Slusho where they find a magical ingredient that makes you want to drink Slushos. The website is very weird and I don;t know how to make heads or tales out of it... reminds me of the whole I love bees Halo campaign.
The main character in the movie is wearing a Slusho t-shirt and is getting promoted to Japan and the parent company is TAGRUATO. They also have a website tagruato.jp This site had pages before, but now is just a single image with a word in Japanese I am trying to get a translation still...
Then there is the site www.1-18-08.com where there are some really weird pics and a recipe containing some secret ingredient?!?!
All of that being said here is the review I just posted in Baytown Talk...
It depends on how you watch a movie as to whether you will like this. If you want a popcorn munching, no thinking involved, Saturday afternoon action flick then this is not really your movie. If you get sick from the motion of a shaky camera don't go see this, we had at least one vomit in our theater. On the other hand if you allow yourself to get involved in the movie, put yourself in the shoes of the actors and see it through their eyes, you "might" enjoy it. The movie certainly had it's moments of tremendous despair. I felt as though I got a bit wrapped up in it in some parts to the point where I felt my chest beating and other than a few young kids making wise cracks in the quiet scenes, our theater was riveted to the end. You can tell when a bad movie is playing, there is always more fidgeting, cell phone sms-ing(ANNOYING!), and people going to the bathroom. We had NONE of that except the vomit girl and our theater was full up!

I think people give bad reviews when they don't get the "happy ending". If you walk out of the theater with bad feelings because the hero died or everyone died or the monster wins etc... that is the last thing you will remember and I think people project that feeling to say the whole thing sucked because they feel bad at the end. I did not think it was great, but it was worth seeing. Definitely go see it if you like those end of the world, deep despair, helpless feeling kind of movies. If you do see it take note in the middle of the scenes, especially before the monster is revealed like the very beginning of the rumble, if your not on the edge of your seat. I wonder what I would do in that situation, how would I protect my family how would we get out or would we hunker down... I don't know but it was sure was fun to be forced to confront that feeling for an hour or so.
On today, January 17, we must all remember the role that the lone
SPARTAN-II soldier named John-117 played in the survival of the human
race as a whole.
Nice weekend... errr where did it go? I'll be brief...
Friday night Mario's Pizza with the Jackson's and a little visit at their place afterwards.
Saturday Dade and I went on a paintball hunt for his gear. We were supposed to get haircuts, but somehow I got the dates screwed up! He got a gun and mask for Xmas I he needed a hopper and tank. We got him sorted out and got a pod carrier as well. Afterwards he came home and shot up the fence a little ... his gun is quite alright... very accurate!
Saturday night we hooked up with the Jacksons again and went to P.F. Changs ... I liked the food for the first time in 3 tries. Everyone always raves about this place but I was always underwhelmed... not Saturday, Kung Pow Shrimp is very yummy! Afterwards we took a slow ride home down Westheimer. To further corrupt P we stopped by Shaw's Tattoo where I found out they don't do UV tattoos GRRRRR and made one more discreet stop I won't mention by name. It was pretty fun and honestly I was feeling like I didn't want the night to be done when ended, I was at a 6 and still on the way up... R was a little wrung out from the previous night though.
Sunday Little League Sign ups. Spent the day at the Civic Center signing up kids then came home and played Risk for the first time in 20 years! realized that the weekend was done and wow... what happened where'd the weekend go?
