Did anyone see the 'stros last night :) ooohhh baby this race is heatin up! Angie had tix to the game thru her work, it was a power mangers day or something so I told that's ok you go network with your people... well she knew she was in trouble when she found her seat... front row third base line at the bend... s'ok I'll get over it. #$%^$%^^%$^&*%#$$^&*(^$^&@@

I took Dade to see a 3d-Imax yesterday and he loved it. I think it had to much motion sickness stuff in it but the graphics and 3d-ness was quite good.

Oh yea my worm adventure apparently was going on around the world at the same time. The Code Red worm whacked the crap out of tons of machines Thursday and made the news on Friday, I saw it on CNN, in the Chronicle, on TechTV, USA Today, SlashDot and heard it on the radio. Apparently it was set to flood the White House web site with a Distrubuted Denial of Service attack at 5p Pacific. To bad the White House found out and moved the server to another IP number first. HA! I feel so privelidged to be part of such a news worthy event... uhhh not really.

For those who want to know what a DDOS(see above paragraph) attack is go here. This guy wrote it up in the best way I have ever seen. It is very good reading and fully illustrates the fact that internet is really a volitile fragile place, and that a 13 year old kid can flat out knock you out and there is nothing you can do about it. Have a read.

Ok have you ever wanted to know about movies looooooong before they are out, try this link. Warning they spoil movies by telling the plot sometimes, but they always tell you they are gonna spoil. They have stuff like what is happening on the new Star Wars movie and insights to the new movie called ALI ... a movie about Cassius Clay(Muhamed Ali) starring Will Smith... yep the skinny Fresh Prince! Anyway have fun, but be warned there is some graphic language sometimes.

Ok add this to my technolust wish list... mmmm wi-fi too...

Well I have finaly decided on a PDA... I know I'm so behind the times, but anyway Toshiba has come out with a new Pocket PC color PDA. It is as thin as a Palm Vx almost, and has a Type II CF card slot and an SD mem card slot, no sleeve needed. Just drop one of these 5G CF cards in it YES! It's running a 206Mhz processor that is the same as the iPaq. Considering Toshiba's track record with laptops I think I'll be in line to get one of these gems on August 20th. that's all for now... i.am.sam

Ok where do I begin! What a day what a day what a day! Some you know I run a web site for my company that supports about 50-60 other sites around the world. i.e. if we go down they go down, so that is baaadddd news. At about 9:55a today we went down. No problem I thought I'll just restart the server, that happens every once in a while. I restart and everthing comes back to life, we be happy! ummmm wait a minute 15 minutes later blamo everything is dead again! ok restart again... 15 minutes and blam...
    WTF

Ok read the net install the latest updates to NT4, the roll up security patch from M$ and restart... this will fix it... 15 mins pop! uggg! ok read read read read... gotta love the old deja news that is now google groups. Install the exception viewer, ok done restart and watch... 15 mins pop. Ok turn off all indexing restart, 15 mins pop. ... yada yada yada... you get the idea.

Shoot ahead 5 hours it's now 4p have I been at this all day! Damn it! Ok there is a place next door that does hosting maybe they know whats up... little walk down the hall, little explanation, look of sheer disbelief as they finish my sentences! huh same problem your just started 2 hours ago! ughhh
    WTF.
Wait your ISP is having it too! oh man this is getting out of hand.

For all of you people that have no idea what I'm talking about we now know 4 seperate servers that are completly independant from each other all having the same symptoms. All have started today and on one of the machines(that is running newer software) there is a message...

"Hello! Welcome to http://www.worm.com! Hacked by Chinese!"

ahhh believe it or not a feeling of relief now washes over me. It's not really just me. I have not been a complete retard... I quickly call my service provider and get the top man there. He informs me this worm is running wild on the net right now and sends me the patch. Patch installed, restart the machine, it has been going for 28 minutes as I write this now.

want to read about it here are 2 stories off the wire...

Breathe in breathe out, this is what they pay IT people for right, to figure this stuff out... I had visions of spending the night here before... now it's time to go home soon, what a day... it feels like I worked about 20 hours today! ughh damn worm writers...

I can't let you go without a small little gem I picked up before all this started...
Alot of you have DVD players now, I bet when you went to the store to buy that favorite movie and found out it was not on DVD you said WTF well... you may want to have a look here. They have stuff that no one has... now I'm not saying do something illegal here but hey information is free, right? The newest DVDs Jurassic Park III yes the one that came out in the theaters 2 days ago and Final Fantasy which is 2 whole weeks old, and my fav the Indiana Jones Trilogy, yep it ain't out yet, but hey information is free, right? Maybe in the days to come I'll post some other good DVD sites there are a bunch!

thats all for now... after I pick up all my hair I'm going home. cya i.am.sam

What a fireworks show last night! Did anyone see the Astros Cards game... damn! Bagwell goes for the cycle and the scores were astronomical(Astros won 17-11)! Fun stuff! Anyway, we went to the first real meeting of the home owners association last night. I have one thing to say about that... what a bunch of tight asses, sorta. Anwyay there were about 4 or 5 squeaky wheels that wanted to run a shoe string budget and not pay the money proposed($100). It was kinda funny when we actually voted since it came out about 70-4 in favor of paying the dues... it just goes to show you there is a blow hard in every crowd.

Ok for those who still don't know ICQ is an instant messaging service that I am on along with about 20 million other people. Well I know there are other IM services out there but look at the ratings and you'll see why I use ICQ. Anyway my number is 2565823 at work and 2610755 at home. They now have the ability to set up SMS and thanks to VoiceStream I am set up that way. You got send me a message right to my phone, and if I can figure it out I will be able to reply from my phone right back to your computer! Technology is so cool! If you have buddies online you'll love this stuff. One suggestion I have is make sure you check the box that requires your authorization to be added to a buddy list and that you only get message from your authorized buddies. I use it daily and it works great!

more later, gotta get to work
    trust your technolust... i.am.sam

Those who know me know I like Cirque du Soleil and a performance is coming to Texas! Dralion will start having advanced sale duckets very soon, I highly recomend it. I have seen Mystere(twice), O and Quidam, and I would see any of them again in an instant! Cirque is a circus like nothing you have ever seen I really don't know how to describe it, it is very original, it is often very funny(get there early), it has incredible music that you cannot believe is live, and you are damn sure that someone is going to die in every performance. See it once and you will be hooked! They are coming to Dallas and Houston for sure check the site for more places... I am so psyched about this!

Angie,Dade and I went to Wings again last night and it was DAMN good... gotta love those 2 for Tuesdays! Tonight is the 1st the meeting of our new home owners association. I am going to make sure my Halloween rights are protected... my friend L thinks I should try to be on the board, I'm not sure about that, but maybe.

Well I finally got my phones datacable to work with this software. If you have a Nokia I recomend it. Voicestream still will not let me change the startup logo but hey at least the op logo is mine now!

Messages on the Halloween-L list are starting to pick up steam again I'm getting about 150 or so per day and I'm really feeling the heat to get working on my H projects... time is a-wastin' now was that thing supposed to take 120v or 12v ... just plug it in and see what happens. p.s. if you hear a loud boom followed by a loud hiss coming from Baytown later tonight that meant I got the wrong voltage... that's all for now. i.am.sam

    Short and sweet today...

Can't get your S.O. to ummmmm, hum a tune... try this. There's alot more on this site that you should like if you are male!

Ok are you having Napster withdrawal, I used to like WinMX but I have found something better. Morpheus uses the Kazaa engine and yields the best results I've seen so far... can't find the link to download it try here.

In the spirit of putting in here what I am looking at ... This place has some very cool theme kits for partys. Oddly enough it's called Stumps but hey don't judge a book by it's cover there is some really cool stuff here if you need to outfit a dance or something.

    trust foo

    At Burning Man

Damn I'm still reeling in the wake of the DM concert how awesome was that! Well Angie and me went to the new theaters at the SanJac mall in Baytown last night to see The Fast and the Furious ok movie, if you like cars. The theater was only so-so ... I'm thinking we are still going to go to AMC Gulfpoint on 45 South. anyWHO... today's bloggin brings some good stuff...

First let me start with consumptionjunction.com. My friend G told me about this site and really about this video! WOW! too cool and there are lots of other things to see. The video is fine but some of the other things are not for the faint of heart, so I warned ya!

Burning Man - for those who have never seen this it is site to behold, I hope to see it in person one day until then www.burningman.com should satisfy your curiosity. Be sure to check out the images, it will make you want to go!

As some of you know I'm building a theater in my house.(yea for like 5 years now!?!) Anyway if you like that sort of thing you can't be without this site.

In case you are dead click here.

You thought you knew what hacks were ... check it out at MIT. I like the great droid under best of!

    Darwin alert!
A Chicago woman took revenge into her own hands quite successfully, when she bit off the testicles of her rapist during the attack. The 21-year-old man should have known better than to accost a woman twice his age and ferocity. When he dropped his trousers and forced her down, she seized her opportunity and severed his gonads, rendered him permanently sterile to the satisfaction of all.

The woman walked to police headquarters a block away and turned the testicles over to police. Shortly thereafter a man with a matching injury appeared at the Michael Reese Medical Center. Police put two and two together and cordoned off the injured man's hospital room, while doctors attempted, unsuccessfully, to reattach the rapist's genitals.

Hey it's not death but it is another way out of the gene pool!

Because some you don't know what the Darwin Awards are go here and read.

    the morning after...

Houston Texas in the middle of July in an outdoor venue, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING! They were obviously thinking very clearly! You forget how good a band like DM can sound until you hear them at an outdoor venue such as this.

As Angie and I were walking up to the arena I swore I had never heard of Poe, the opening act before. I tell a lie! While I did not recognize one song they played I had heard and seen them on an Audiofile special on TechTV. Poe was quite good lot's of energy and had a very DM like sound, overall a good choice for an opener.

After Poe left the stage roadies swapped the stage over, the crowd crammed in and sun went down. There was an intro tape playing on the P.A. system on the arena and as that got louder and louder you eventually realized that it was now coming through the concert system speakers, then the lights went out, the stage became bathed in a blood red light Easy Tiger was playing at full volume when Martin came out on stage and broke into an instrumental of Dream On. The crow was at fevered pitch at this point and with the crowd standing you could see just how many fans they still draw. As the rest of the band silently fell in to place they broke out into a very pumped up version of The Dead Of Night and David Gahan TOOK the stage and the crowd! He danced, he twirled, he sang and proved he one of the best front men in the world. They play songs from Exciter during the first half of the show but mixed in some familiarity with Walking In My Shoes. The show was a bit slow at first but had some stellar moments, during Waiting For The Night To Fall an effective background image of falling raindrops was showing on the very large screen behind the band and a very powerful version of Freelove showed that David's voice hasn't lost a tick. The show picked up steam and soon the crowd was singing and dancing to the likes of Enjoy The Silence, I Feel You and an excellent I Feel Love. The band wrapped it up with Personal Jesus and the crowd doing the now DM staple arm waving. After the obligatory encore cheering they came out with Martin doing Home and David doing Clean and then a surprise to most of the crowd a fresh rendition of Black Celebration(my personal highlight of the show). Finally to end the encore they played Never Let Me Down Again as they slowly left the stage.

Overall the concert was very good, DM sounds as good or better than they do on their recordings. The heat which I thought was going to be a factor was not and there was not one bug in site. I enjoyed the diverse crowd, and it was diverse, and left feeling very satisfied. I guess I'll start the countdown now for the next DM concert here... i.am.sam

Well G,J and S couldn't do wings with us so we went anyway... mmmm wings! you could go here for the Wings 'n More page but it's busted!

Well it hasn't rained in about a week here so I'm sure Saturday the DM concert is gonna get drenched! ... looking at the forecast YEP! of course this changes by the minute!

Funny thing happened today... Dade was playing N64 while I mowed the grass and after an hour he comes to show me his thumb and a little piece of skin hanging off of it. He had a blister from cranking the stick to hard! Anyway he just can't seem to understand how it got there and why it's not gonna get any better until het puts down the controller. He's still playing... been about 3 hours now... I guess I better get him a tv in his room.

For all you skywatchers out there this Martian dust storm movie page is pretty cool...

or your really into it... this is so cool! This guy took his $50 web cam and hooked it up to his not to expensive but nice Celestron Ultima 9.25 and captured images of the Space Station! Yes THE Space Station... you have to check it out.

Not quite Darwinian but damn close! ... How not to store your fireworks...

    i.am.sam mind the gap!
