My friend L's wife was selling a camera on ebay recently when after the sale she became suspicious. It might have been women's intuition but whatever the reason she started checking the buys feedback every day. After he paid the money through PayPal and she sent the camera he started to get feedback about how he was welching on deals, She imediately went to the bank and closed that account and reopened another to break the PayPal tie. Sure enough PayPal sent her a notice that she owed them the money back because she had commited fraud in "not sending the camera!" PayPal automatically sided with the perp and did not have any sympathy for my friend! Since she had sent the camera to a p.o. box she called the local police in the area and explained to them what was happening to her and apparently others on the internet/ebay. The cop traced the p.o. , went to his house and found him there with the camera! He got arrested and they sent the camera back to my friend! How COOL! is that! Way cool if you ask me, next time something goes down with me I'm calling her! Don't mess with J! BAM!
Well dade and I had been planning to go to WaterWorld yesterday for a week. The website said WW was open during the regular SFAW hours. Well yesterday's hours were from 9a-4p so we made plans. On a whim I decided to give them a bell and check to make sure... guess what only Sat and Sun! Fix the damn website! ... oh wait they did! Sometime between Last weekend and friday they changed it... bastards so we went to Splashtown instead...
When I pulled in I though "OH SHIT"! There were about 40 school buses in the p.lot. We go up anyway while I'm standing in line I notice sign that says the following attractions will not be open today... and there are 9 things listed! I have no idea what this park is like and how many that leaves but how do I tell Dade... I mean he's been doing extras all week just to get to go! So we go in... after walking all the way around the joint I found f'ed up locker system they have there and we got changed. They did not have any kids areas open and the 3!!! things that were open were so jammed up with obnoxious jr.high aged kids you couldn't move. The wave pool was so full that the waves weren't even making it to shore! incredible! So right away I'm in a shit pissed mood... we decided to get int he lagoon thing and at least get wet and then we slid this tiny little slide in the lagoon. While we were doing this I noticed they opened another slide, a tandem slide. So we go and the line is not to bad yet so do that. By the time that is done they have open the kids pirate ship area! yea! Dade get's on the ship and plays for about an hour... we trek over to the wave pool for a set and immediately head back to the Pirate ship. They slowly opened more and more things almost none which Dade was tall enough to ride, last thing before we left they opened the river which was fun... overall I'd say it's about the same as WW. I won't be going back though. It's to expensive and I already have a season pass to WW not to mention to far away... I'd say they barely pulled the day out but squeezing a few things open. I wonder if the dressed the gardeners as lifegaurds and put them in the seats just to stuff open. Probably!

Well I felt my first really bad pang of vicarious emotional pain through my son today. It seems the neighborhood kids were picking on him by hitting him in the face with a ball. He was outnumbered 4-1 and while he wanted to stay he didn't know how to handle the situation. I gave him all the advice I could but he still chose to sit and wallow around the house. I feel so bad for him. It's really his first foray into this type of emotion for him. He can't grasp the concept of someone NOT being nice to him... totaly my fault for spoiling him and allowing him to be spoiled. I'm sure he'll get over it, but in the meantime my gut and head are in turmoil. while I want to help him I realize that would be one of the worst things I could do. I'll just encourage him to stand up for himself.

I have just had a sit down read of Salam Pax's blog catch up entries and I must say that I am saddened and relieved and angry and scared. He captured a very small slice of what it was like to live through the short Iraqi war that has been going on. He also confirmed for me what I thought must be happening, CNN and MSNBC are to far left, Fox is to far right and all of them are slanted and sensationalizing the coverage. I was happy to see the that some of the things I thought impossible to believe were true(fall of the statue) and sad to hear that the Iraqi people did not all embrace the change. I understand, as best I can. If this were not to have happened, the house across the street would not have burned for 3 days and you would not have had 15 guns pointed at you all at once. How can that be something to wish for! As it turns out I think Salam is starting to see the good that could come out of this. Saddam was a bad man and now half of Iraq is starting to say it, but why not everyone? Look to yourself for the answer there. Do you know someone who in this day and age is racist? I know that my grandparents were to a degree. They may not have freely said as much but you could tell. Why? That is what they grew up with, what was put into thier heads from day one to day 9001! What would you say if tomorrow you were told the sky is actually red and not blue? Would it not be impossible for you to say red red red when you are thinking, nothing has changed and it is still blue? Over time things will normalize and even though I do not know Salam I wish him and his family and friends well. Please stay safe and thank you for what I believe is the most informative and best thing I have read or heard in all the coverage and news on the war.
