What did you do this weekend? Thanks to E for the vid and the place to crash... I had so much fun this weekend I cannot even begin to tell you what a hoot this was!
UPDATE:
Ok have a mo to write something up... Last weekend I went to the Nieman Marcus/Adolphus Rice Childrens Parade with my fellow 501st members to march in the parade. This was my first big event as a TK and OMG I am hooked. Putting on the gear with 30-40 others in gear is just bad ass. I was wondering if it's just me or if other people would be receptive to us ... Oh my... First once in character you have to stay in character so helmets on and that's that they are on until you return to the building. So we armored up, assembled in the underground and marched up to street level. As soon as we hit street level every head within sight of us snapped around! Then the rush hit... we marched up a block to go stage for the parade but it was to crowded on our staging street so they sent us to a grassy area to wait for our spot. On the way there we had to pass marching bands and other participants int he parade. The mob that began taking pictures soon squeezed us to the point of not marching and just trying to get to our spot. Once there it was an endless stream of people and kids coming to get pictures and just marvel at us. It was a very strange feeling.
After an hour and a half of standing there taking pictures and waiting for our spot we were off. The whole way we got cheers and boos and what not. It was fun fun fun! Afterwards I was talking with Angie about it and she told me that most of the parade people were not making noise at all so the fact that we got cheered was a big deal! The experience for me was off the chart... I mean I got as close as I could to actually living a part of Star Wars, which you should all know by now is my favorite movie well ESB really but anyway I was a stormtrooper for those 3 hours, so damn cool, can't wait to do it again!
