First things first if you know me please do not spoil this for Dade he has no idea and I have about convinced him that he needs to ask for something else for Christmas! So after the launch when I did not get an Xbox 360 I have been on a quest. Every morning I have been calling at least 1 dozen stores hoping to catch one coming in. I have been reading the internet and following the news. In a nutshell they had 300K for the launch they sold out in less than 6 hours. Since then they were/are going to trickle out stock every week to the stores. I got wind that the 2nd shipment would hit the ground around the 9th. This means the bigger stores would get them 2 or 3 days later after they go through the warehouse. During my daily calls I would quiz whoever I got on the line and find out when the trucks would come. It turns out that WalMart's trucks come at 2am and they are unloaded by 4. For the last 4 days I have been getting up at 4:30 to call the Baytown and Crosby WalMarts.
Sunday morning the 11th I got a hit in Crosby! BAM! I scramble dressed hop in my truck speed speed speed. Get to WalMart run inside and find someone in electronics to help me who promptly tells me no we did not get any> POP! I don't deflate slowly I popped... So I tell her that I had called and a man answered the phone and he told me they were there and was she sure. She was, but she got on the P.A. and called everyone around that could have answered the phone and asked if they were the ones. No one fessed up, but this one guy Chip he was boisterous and proceeded to laugh at me and tell me I would NEVER get one before Christmas. Then he told me he knows they won't get anymore in until January. I tried to be nice and explain to him and the others that I knoew about the distrbution and they most likely would be getting some very soon. In the end I asked him if there was any way he could go and check since I had been told there was some in stock and I had gotten out of bed at 5am on a Sunday and driven in there. His response was "I don't have to because I know we don't have them and we won't be getting any." I walked out and turned looked back and thanked for taking the 2 minutes it would have taken to go and take a quick look.
Monday morning I get up at 4:30 and make my calls. Guess what?! Crosby has them! This time I quiz a little harded...they have "some" but won't sell them until 7am when the department manager gets there. I woke up sick and don't feel like even going to work but this won't wait so I get dressed for the office and head up to WalMart. I get there at 5:30am. There is no one waiting so I settle in. I talked to a nice lady that was not there the day before and she assures me they have at least 2 in the back. Around 6:30 one of the ladies from the day before shows up and recognizes me! Yes they have them and she can sell me one! As we are walking to the front to pay for it she tells me they figured out who told me they were in stock, I asked if it was Chip and she said no. I then told he how upset I was abot the way that Chip had belittled me and couldn't find the 2 minutes to check in the back and how really how I wished he could see me buying this 360 that "would not be coming in" and that "I would not get". In the end I am not going to complain about it I got what I came for! Hopefully the Karma thing works boths ways...
Chip works at Wal-Mart. Maybe he'll work there for a long time and get promoted. Good thing you missed out on FF this year. I'm hoping for a little Karma also for a little cheater named Brown.
