I got a chance to get around Baytown. Things are not bad. There are a few trees down here and there. At least one or two that hit houses. Lot's of downed power lines, I almost ran into one. Over all I think we'll chalk this one up to a big fat LUCKY! I got some snaps I'll post them later.
Sorry for the lack of entries. I actualy got a little nap in there. It seems as if the gusts are coming much less frequently now. The police scanner is all quiet still so I'm sure they are still holed up in the station and command center. The power has been off and on but never for long. Lucky so far! I looked outside and did not see any destruction on my street. Once thing are leveled off and there is some daylight I'll go out and see what there is to see.
Sam, hope all is well! I cant believe you still have power. That is amazing! The wind is kicking pretty good here in Huntsville, but not as bad as I thought it would be. Sounds like things have gone pretty well. Dont get out to soon in this mess!

Hey Sam, Heard from my Dad and Brother in Clear Lake. Alls well. Power outages, downed power lines, etc. Rob's been busy fighting some fires. Lost a big apartment complex in Clear Lake because most of Fire Trucks in the area had responded to the Galveston fires in the middle of the night. They both said the most amazing site is when you go over the Kemah bridge. The bay is practically sucked dry! You can walk across it. Dad says it is down about 6 feet. Glad yall fared well. UPDATE: The wind has picked up again! Apparently there are trees down all over town. Baytown PD are reporting downed power lines and trees over roads all over town. The BPD has just come on the radio recalling all unit to the main station at 3200 N. Main. The weather conditions at this point are to bad to be in, several units have reported not being able to keep cars on the road.
About 30 minutes ago the water pressure here dropped to almost nothing and now there is a report of a fire at the water plant on Thompson. Aparentlty the station behind the Pilot truck stop's power station is on fire, fully involved.
There are reports all over town of windows out, the bank, the 7-11-7, a cleaners and others.
Juding by the radar we are in the middle of it bigtime right now. Something rather large just hit the roof I'm going to go check as soon as there is a lull in the wind.
UPDATE: Nothing I could see... it is to dark to see the roof though.
WEll it's as I expected Dad's house seesm to have lost power around 1:30am so the cam and weather a kaputz.
It continues to be pretty strong here. There have been a couple of times wher I'm thinking ok this it it something is coming off but so far so good.
I keep hearing the plywood poping like it's ready to get ripped off, and I hear that is happening all over town on the police scanner. As far as I can tell I have not lost any yet.
I tried to take some video but I was right to dark and the cam wouldn't focus correctly.
I'm getting a bit tired. I hope this goes on by soon so I can sleep a little.
The bands coming over now. As I understand from the news we are only getting 50mph winds. At times I'm see some pretty amazing bending by the pine trees out there.
I just heard on the police radio of an assult that ambulance was unable to get out of the garage, they did not say why. I am going to try and get some video in a little bit but I think it's to dark and I do not want to get out in this. I meant to bring in my bicycle helmet earlier so I could get out in it if need be, but I forgot and left it in the garage. Let's see what the next hour brings. I think we are about 30-40% through the pass at this point.
I might have jinxed it... I just saw a pic on dad's cam go dark wait, now it's solid black... I think it's living on the UPS supply right now. All I can see is the faint outline of the boards and a green glow in the backlground(maybe a transformer popping). I hope it stays on!
The lights at the Reese's house are not on any more that is for sure and I getting intermittant drops in the picture now.
Ok this is riding the storm out. THings are creaking and groaning and hitting the house and all hell is breaking loose!
I've had some power blips and the computer has cut off at least once. It looks like Dad's cpu is still online at this point, not sure how long that's going to last with the way things are on this side of town. Stay tuned...
Well we are having the some pretty heavy winds here now, and the power has blinked a couple of times. Good 'ol UPS is saving the 'pooter right now, if the same is happening at Dad's I don't know how long the cams and weather data will survive.
Just got back from R's house... the lack of wind and rain so far coupled with sheer boredom enticed me to go over there. Well that and the fact that he had Key Lime Bluebell! YUM!
Anyway they say the storm is still coming I guess we'll see around midnight or 1am. It's been losing it's punch rapidly so that's pretty good. I guess the next trick is to see if the plywood hold up to the 100MPH winds that alledgedly still coming.
